The temping set in Edinburgh

Last week in Edinburgh marked our 600th performance of TEMPING. The show was named “Best of the Fringe” by The Telegraph, and listed as one of the Guardian’s 20 theater shows to see (alongside Ian McKellen’s Hamlet). We have now reduced audience members to tears in 8 cities across 3 countries — with the help of our technical director, Asa Wember, some talented operators from our co-producer Dutch Kills, Microsoft Excel, and a customized shipping container.

Before heading to Scotland we were grateful to spend a week at New York Theater Workshop’s summer residency program, working on our new show GOVERNMENT WEDDING. Legally, we cannot say more about that.

Here’s what else reviewers had to say about TEMPING:

    • “A jewel-like show, elegantly paced with a constant flow of ‘work’, and, of course, slowly dawning revelations about office life, unexpected relationships, petty squabbles… a quietly moving, slightly unsettling, miniature masterpiece of a show.” (The Arts Desk ★★★★)

    • “This is theatre at its most immersive and interactive…Temping calls upon its audience member or, really, its player, to assess their life instead…A technical masterclass in live worldmaking, Temping is a thoroughly researched, vital, playful, cathartic experience.” (Edinburgh Guide ★★★★★)

  • Temping is like nothing else I’ve seen…[It] makes you think deeply about the state of the working world. Are we really just numbers labelled either active or deceased, easily replaced… And if so, is this the way we want the world to be?” (North West End ★★★★)

Catch us on October 15 in Brooklyn at HEARTH GODS, our reading series for new work, which returned last month with a lineup of new theater, fiction, and music. And please considering supporting our work with a tax-deductible donation to Wolf 359.
